Creativity in Comedy - Learning Improvisation (8-14 years)
This class takes budding comedians and gives them a voice. Using our unique approach to theater, students learn improvisation skills that not only make them better performers, but give them life long tools they can use every day. ImprovBoston's youth classes teach students how to have confidence in their own point of view, accept even the biggest "mistakes" as gifts, become an amazing team player, and communicate their ideas more effectively. Whether your child is looking to take their performing to the next level, or has never stepped on a stage before this class has something for everyone. Our skilled youth instructors create an environment in which students are physically active, mentally active, and laughing all the way through the program. Session 1 introduces students to basic concepts, Session 2 fine tunes and further develops those concepts. Each 4 week session concludes with a show that family and friends are encouraged to attend.

Comedy Central (Square) (High School)
So you're funny - now what? ImprovBoston gives you the answers. Over the course of this class we will cover the basic forms of performance comedy - sketch writing (like SNL), improvisation (like Who's Line Is Is Anyway?) and stand-up (like Dane Cook). Then we'll weave it all together into a show set up like your favorite fake news program (like the Daily Show). You'll learn about writing, delivery, character work and most of all how to get those great ideas out of your head and turn them into a show. Session 1 will focus on creating the material and basic performance techniques. Session 2 will fine tune the material and get the show ready to perform in front of a live audience. No previous performance experience necessary. Limited to 15 students.
